Slovenian Minister of Infrastructure Alenka Bratušek recently hosted a working visit of the Serbian Minister of Construction, Transportation and Infrastructure Goran Vesić. At a bilateral meeting in the morning hours, Minister Bratušek and Minister Vesić agreed that transport development needs to focus on railways and on improving cooperation with respect to rail transport. Later in the afternoon, the Ministers paid a visit to the management of Slovenske železnice.

Director General of Slovenske železnice Dušan Mes opened the meeting by giving a general outline of Slovenske železnice Group, its strategic operations and business objectives. The remaining part of the visit was focused on the project for integrated public transport (IJPP) and the associated introduction of a single travel pass as well as on Mobility as a Service (Maas).

In conclusion Minister Bratušek and Minister Vesić pointed out that connections by rail between Slovenia and Serbia need to be improved and that the options should be examined for reintroducing night train services between Ljubljana and Belgrade via Zagreb, Croatia.
