Through Sponsorships and Donations, Slovenian Railways Supports Community Connections and Development
At Slovenian Railways, we recognise that in addition to our role as a creator of green standards and advanced practices in Slovenia’s land passenger transport and as a pillar of the economy through environmentally and economically efficient freight transport, we also have an important broader social responsibility.
In addition to meeting wider standards of corporate social responsibility, we incorporate support for projects that contribute to sustainable development, enhance the company’s public image and strengthen employee engagement through sponsorships and donations. In this way, we respond to the needs of the environment in which we operate and contribute to its development, particularly in relation to sustainable development and life in the vicinity of railway infrastructure.
Summary of the Rules on the Consideration and Approval of Sponsorships and Donations in the Slovenian Railways Group
Through sponsorships and donations, the Slovenian Railways Group supports associations, organisations and projects operating in the fields of sport, culture, education, environmental protection, humanitarian activities and other socially responsible initiatives. Through these activities, we pursue the goals of implementing corporate social responsibility, strengthening the reputation and recognition of the Slovenian Railways brand, supporting commercial interests and fostering a sense of belonging among employees.
Sponsorship refers to supporting activities, events or projects through financial contributions or material resources, for which the sponsor expects agreed benefits in return.
Donation refers to the provision of financial or material resources or another appropriate form of assistance, for which the donor does not expect any return benefits.
Criteria for Selecting Sponsorship Projects
When selecting sponsorship projects, the following criteria are taken into account:

suitability for a company or companies within the Slovenian Railways Group or its brand,

the reputation and integrity of the applicant,
-
ensured media or promotional exposure,
-
attendance or public impact,
-
opportunities for cooperation with a company or companies within the Slovenian Railways Group,

geographical relevance.
Criteria for Selecting Donation Projects
When selecting donation projects, the following criteria are taken into account:

suitability for a company or companies within the Slovenian Railways Group or its brand,
-
the reputation and integrity of the applicant,
-
humanitarian value,
-
social responsibility,
-
support for vulnerable groups,
-
attendance or public impact.
Selection Procedure
Applications for sponsorships and donations must be submitted electronically via the Slovenian Railways website using the links provided below.
Sponsorships are approved by the Management Board of Slovenian Railways upon the proposal of the Corporate and Digital Marketing and Communications Department. As a rule, the proposal is adopted by 31 March of the relevant year.
Donations are reviewed by the Donations Committee, which then submits a proposal to the Management Board of Slovenian Railways. The allocation procedure takes place twice a year, usually during the spring call (expected in March) and the autumn call (expected in September).
Selected projects must meet the predefined objectives and criteria.
Transparency and Publications
A list of approved or concluded sponsorships and donations is published on the website of the Slovenian Railways Group. Major sponsorships may also be presented in promotional and advertising campaigns.
Proof of the intended use of all received funds must be provided.
